protein for weight loss

1/22/2014

43% of women use more protein intake as a way to lose weight. To slim down eat .5g of protein per pound of body weight.
Example: If you're 150 pounds, try getting at least 75g of protein spread throughout the day. (4 oz of chicken can contain 26g!)

a glowing review

1/20/2014

It always feel good to know how you impact someone. A review from a client let's you know how you're doing, so thank you very much for the great review!

"My wife & I have only been clients of Jen's for a short time, however the results have been amazing. Jen is Jillian Michaels without the "mean". She has an awesome ability to motivate through encouragement and inspire through her dedication to her personal training and journey. She's not just a "trainer" - she is in it with you!"

3 benefits of grapefruit

1/12/2014

1. Grapefruit aids in weight loss: Grapefruit is high in enzymes that burn fat and it has a high water content, which causes fullness. Have some before a meal to help with getting full and burn fat while you eat

2. Grapefruit helps in cancer prevention: The pigment lycopene is responsible for the red color in grapefruit, it is powerful against cancer causing agents and tumors.  Naringenin is also found in grapefruit and aids in DNA repair in prostate cancer cells.

3. The common cold: Grapefruit enhances the immune system, which helps your body fight off illnesses quicker. It also contains pectin, which boosts digestion.

Grapefruit can interact negatively with those taking medication for high blood pressure or for lowering cholesterol, check with your doctor before consuming a grapefruit or juice.

A few weight loss tips

1/4/2014

Weight loss isn't easy. If it was, we'd all look amazing and have the body we want.

I'm not here to tell you it's easy, or that it'll come quickly. It takes work, sometimes some very hard work. I am here to answer an questions you have and guide you along the way of your weight loss journey.
Here are some short tips to keep in mind:
  1. Keep a food journal for a week. 88% of people that do lose weight
  2. You want to do at minimum 150 minutes of cardio per week. 30 minutes a day, 5 times a week isn't too bad right?
  3. Achieve small loss goals before you reach for bigger goals
  4. Weight training for even 20 minutes can boost your metabolism for hours!
  5. It can take up to 8 weeks to see results, so hang in there!
  6. Most importantly; enjoy the journey! Have fun at the gym, it's not all boring

If you have more questions or would like some more tips email or text me!
And remember, we all started somewhere.

Happy New Year!

1/1/2014

Happy New Year everyone!
It's time for those New Years Resolutions to begin. Experts say by the end of January the percent of resolutioners goes down to 64% and only a few months later drops even farther to 44%. So what happens in those months to cause people to go back to their old ways?

A number of reasons can discourage you enough to quit;
  • No results.  It can take up to 8 weeks just to see results. Exercise shouldn't be a quick fix. It should be a life change that you keep up with and see results as they come.
  • Planning.   You need a plan to succeed. Don't just wing fitness, plan out your eating, especially when traveling, tell yourself when and for how long you'll be at the gym.
  • No support.   Having a support system is very important. When you can't find motivation for yourself it's great to have someone right there behind you reminding you how much you want this.

A goal that you can do for a year rather than only a few weeks will be better for you in the long run. Who knows, maybe you'll like this fitness stuff so much you'll keep it up! Whether your resolution is fitness based or not, remember; it is a marathon, not a sprint.

You'll always have the support and motivation from me, if you need anything don't hesitate to write or call.
Jen
